International Fertilizer Industry Association (IFA) recently released report, the global sulfur supply by 2013 or will be tight.
Report, 2009 ~ 2014, the world's sulfur production will keep growing at a rate of 8%, sulfur supply in 2014 will reach 67.1 million tons, which added 19 million tons, 60% sulfur recovery from natural gas. During this period, the supply of sulfur importers will import 80% of the total, 800 million tons, while the exporting countries will increase by 11 million tons of sulfur production.
East Asia, West Asia, North America and the Caribbean is a major supplier, accounting for 2009 ~ 2014 net increase of 85% sulfur.
Report is expected in 2009 ~ 2014, will be the world's sulfur consumption growth rate of 6% annually, to reach 62.1 million tons in 2014, consumption growth from the world's phosphate fertilizer industry recovery and sulfuric acid leaching ore demand growth. IFA estimates that the global sulfur, sulfuric acid consumption will account for 84% of total demand, and the average annual growth of more than 5% of the fertilizer with half of the sulfuric acid will be consumed, and demand will be increasing at a rate of 4.5%.
IFA of the interim analysis, the short term to restore the world's phosphate fertilizer and steel industry will drive the growth of consumption of sulfur, sulfur supply and demand will be in balance, in 2011 and 2012 the global potential capacity for sulfur surplus of 200 million to 2.3 million tons, if such production momentum to continue to expand, in 2014 a surplus of potential production capacity will reach 5 million tons, but if the number of sulfur project because of the financial crisis continue to delay, then the world's sulfur in 2013 will be tight.
