According to Zhao Min, general engineer of the Beijing branch of the global engineering company, this project uses the "450 thousand ton / year synthetic ammonia plant and 800 thousand tons / a year urea plant package" independently developed by the global engineering company. It is a large nitrogen fertilizer plant with natural gas as raw material, and it is also the "large scale" of "11th Five-Year" major science and technology special project of China oil. It was understood that the Ningxia petrochemical 45/80 chemical fertilizer project, which was supported by the technology, started construction in July 2011. In April 26, 2018, the project was put into trial, and a qualified urea product was produced in May 9th.

The project has broken through the key technology bottleneck, and realized the localization of the large nitrogen fertilizer plant from technology, engineering design to key equipment. The domestic production rate of the equipment reached more than 95%. The design targets reached tons of ammonia energy consumption less than 30.65GJ, and the consumption of urea products was less than 0.57t liquid ammonia and 0.74t carbon dioxide, and the environmental emission indicators were full. The national standard of clean production has reached the leading level in the world and advanced internationally, breaking the monopoly of foreign companies in the field of nitrogen fertilizer.

The project, with natural gas as raw material, has high energy conversion rate, and has the advantages of low investment, low energy consumption and less pollution. This is consistent with the reality and development trend of natural gas as raw material in the production of large nitrogen fertilizer in the world. Zhao Min said that the main energy of our country is coal, but the production of synthetic ammonia with coal as raw material is long, high energy consumption, high carbon emission and high pollution control cost.

In addition to the application of the large nitrogen fertilizer plant in Ningxia, Zhao Min said that the technology will go out of the country and provide a complete set of technological support for the construction of large nitrogen fertilizer plants and hydrogen production equipment in the construction of "overseas Daqing" in the oil field of China, and to provide a complete set of technological support for the construction of a large nitrogen fertilizer plant and hydrogen production equipment.
