Data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on June 14 show that in May, the production of industrial raw coal, crude oil and natural gas accelerated and power production slowed down.
1. The production of raw coal has accelerated, the import has increased, and the price has dropped slightly.
In May, the output of raw coal was 310 million tons, an increase of 3.5% over the previous month, an increase of 3.4 percentage points over the previous month; the average daily output was 1.08 million tons, an increase of 270,000 tons over the previous month. In January and May, the output of raw coal was 1.42 billion tons, an increase of 0.9% over the same period last year.
In May, 27.47 million tons of coal were imported, an increase of 23.0% over the previous month, an increase of 2.17 million tons; in January and May, 127.39 million tons of coal were imported, an increase of 5.6%.
Coal prices fell slightly. On May 31, the comprehensive trading price of Qinhuangdao 5500 cards of coal was 588 yuan per ton, 515 yuan per ton for 5000 cards and 459 yuan per ton for 4500 cards, down 3 yuan, 2 yuan and 2 yuan respectively from April 29.
2. Crude oil production has accelerated slightly, imports have fallen and oil prices have fallen.
In May, 16.23 million tons of crude oil were produced, up 1.0% year-on-year, 0.4 percentage points faster than last month, and the average daily output was 524,000 tons, which was the same as last month. In January and May, 79.29 million tons of crude oil were produced, an increase of 0.7% over the same period last year.
In May, crude oil imports increased by 3.0% over the same period last month, by 7.8 percentage points; in January and May, crude oil imports increased by 7.7% over the same period last month, by 205.13 million tons.
_International crude oil prices fell. On May 31, the spot FOB price of Brent crude oil was $66.8 per barrel, down $5.4 from April 30.
_3. Slow growth of crude oil processing
In May, 51.9 million tons of crude oil were processed, an increase of 2.8% over the same period last year, a decline of 2.3 percentage points over the previous month, and an average of 1.674 million tons per day was processed, a decrease of 63,000 tons over the previous month. In January and May, crude oil processing volume was 259.49 million tons, an increase of 4.4% over the same period last year.
_. Natural gas production accelerated and import growth slowed down.
In May, 14.4 billion cubic meters of natural gas were produced, an increase of 12.9% over the previous month, a growth rate of 5.0 percentage points faster than that of last month; the average daily output of 470 million cubic meters was the same as that of last month. In January and May, natural gas production reached 72.5 billion cubic meters, an increase of 9.8% over the same period last year.
In May, 7.56 million tons of natural gas were imported, an increase of 2.0% compared with the previous month, and the growth rate fell by 10.7 percentage points. In January and May, 39.43 million tons of natural gas were imported, an increase of 13.4% compared with the previous month.
_. Slowing down of power production
In May, 558.9 billion kWh of electricity was generated, an increase of 0.2% over the same period last year. Influenced by the reduction of working days in May and the higher base of high temperature weather in the same period last year, the growth rate of electric power production slowed down, falling by 3.6 percentage points from last month and 9.6 percentage points from the same period last year. The average daily power generation is 18.03 billion kWh, which is 1.0 billion kWh less than that of the previous year. In January and May, power generation increased by 3.3% at 2.8 trillion kWh, down 5.2 percentage points from the same period last year.
_In terms of different types, the decline of thermal power is expanding, the growth rate of hydropower and nuclear power is falling, and wind power and solar power are accelerating. In May, thermal power declined by 4.9% year on year, an increase of 4.7 percentage points over the previous month; hydropower increased by 10.8% and the growth rate fell by 7.4 percentage points over the previous month; nuclear power increased by 15.4%, by 13.4 percentage points; wind power increased by 19.4%, by 18.4 percentage points; and solar power increased by 15.5%, by 2.1 percentage points.
